You are seeking a diagnosis
Can I still have endometriosis if my MRI or ultrasound is normal?
Yes — it’s possible to have endometriosis or adenomyosis even if your MRI or ultrasound looks normal. Imaging can be very helpful for spotting certain patterns, such as ovarian endometriomas or some deep infiltrating lesions, but it often cannot detect superficial endometriosis and may miss adenomyosis depending on the technique and how the images are interpreted.
A normal scan also doesn’t “rule out” symptoms, especially when pain is cyclical or repeatedly flares around your period and may include pelvic or lower back pain. In our practice, we look at the full picture—your symptom history, exam findings, and what imaging can and cannot show—to decide what the most appropriate next steps are. If your scans are normal but your symptoms persist, you can reach out to schedule a consultation with our team to build a clearer plan.
