You suspect you may have endometriosis or adenomyosis
Why does adenomyosis cause bloating?
Adenomyosis can cause bloating because it often makes the uterus larger and more tender. When endometrial-like tissue grows into the uterine muscle, it can swell and bleed with hormonal cycles, driving inflammation within the myometrium. That combination of swelling, irritation, and uterine enlargement can create a sense of abdominal fullness or “distension,” especially around your period.
Bloating can also be more pronounced when adenomyosis overlaps with endometriosis, fibroids, or pelvic inflammation that affects nearby organs like the bowel. Many patients notice the timing matters—some feel relatively normal early in the cycle and then progressively more puffy or pressure-heavy as bleeding and cramping ramp up. If bloating is one of your most disruptive symptoms, our team can help you sort out whether it’s primarily uterine enlargement/pressure, a cyclical inflammatory flare, or a sign of overlapping conditions—and map out options for meaningful relief.
