You suspect you may have endometriosis or adenomyosis

Can endometriosis cause flu-like body aches during a flare?

Topic:Symptoms
Affected areas:systemicpelvicabdominal

Yes—endometriosis can cause “flu-like” body aches during flares for some patients. Even though endometriosis is often thought of as a pelvic condition, lesions can behave like chronically active wounds that drive inflammation, immune signaling, and nerve irritation, which may show up as whole-body achiness, fatigue, and a run-down feeling along with pelvic pain.

That said, flu-like symptoms aren’t specific to endometriosis, and we take them seriously—especially if you also have fever, chills, new respiratory symptoms, or symptoms that don’t follow your usual cycle pattern. If your aches reliably track with your hormonal cycle or occur alongside your typical endometriosis symptoms (pelvic pain, bowel/bladder pain, deep pain with sex), that pattern can be an important clue.

Our team can help you sort out whether your “flu-like” flares fit an endometriosis/adenomyosis pattern, whether another condition may be contributing, and what treatment path makes the most sense—including when minimally invasive excision surgery is appropriate for both diagnosis and durable relief. If you’re noticing recurring systemic symptoms during flares, reach out to schedule a consultation so we can review your history and build a plan around your specific symptom story.
