Do hormonal treatments like birth control or GnRH improve fertility?

Topic:Fertility
Affected areas:pelvicsystemicabdominal

Hormonal treatments like birth control pills or GnRH medications suppress ovulation, so they are not fertility treatments on their own and do not help you conceive while you’re taking them. Their primary role is symptom control and reducing hormonal stimulation of endometriosis or adenomyosis activity, which can be useful when you’re trying to stabilize pain or bleeding while planning next steps.

In certain situations, hormonal suppression may be used strategically before fertility treatment (for example, as part of an IVF plan in adenomyosis), but it doesn’t reliably increase natural conception rates once you stop it. If you’re weighing hormonal therapy while trying to build a fertility plan, our team can help you align symptom control, timing, and next-step options based on your history and goals.
