You suspect you may have endometriosis or adenomyosis

Does diarrhea mean I have bowel endometriosis?

Topic:Deep Disease
Affected areas:bowelpelvicabdominal

Not necessarily. Diarrhea can occur with endometriosis due to hormone-driven changes in gut motility and pelvic inflammation, even when endometriosis isn’t actually involving the bowel wall.

We become more suspicious for bowel involvement when diarrhea is paired with pain with bowel movements, rectal pain or pressure, bleeding, clear cycle-related flares, or symptoms that persist despite typical IBS-style approaches. In those cases, our team can help clarify your risk with a focused symptom history and pelvic exam, and we may recommend imaging when it’s useful for surgical planning. If your GI symptoms track with your cycle or overlap with pelvic pain, reaching out to schedule a consultation can help you get a clearer, endometriosis-focused explanation and next steps.
