Surgery for adenomyosis before trying to conceive?

Topic:Fertility
Affected areas:pelvicabdominalsystemic

Sometimes, surgery is worth considering before pregnancy when adenomyosis is focal (a localized adenomyoma) and it’s clearly contributing to heavy bleeding, significant pain, or distortion of the uterine cavity—factors that can interfere with implantation and pregnancy. In carefully selected cases, removing a focal lesion may improve symptoms and may support fertility goals.

Diffuse adenomyosis is more challenging to address surgically because it involves a broader area of the uterine muscle, and any uterine surgery brings important considerations about healing, uterine strength in pregnancy, and delivery planning. If you’re weighing surgery before trying to conceive, our team can review your imaging, symptom pattern, and reproductive timeline to help you understand whether surgery is likely to help, what recovery may look like, and how we would plan for a future pregnancy.
