You suspect you may have endometriosis or adenomyosis

Can adenomyosis cause chest pain?

Deep Diseasechestpelvicsystemic

Adenomyosis is a condition of the uterine muscle, so it doesn’t directly create disease in the chest. That said, many patients with adenomyosis also have endometriosis, including the rare possibility of endometriosis affecting the diaphragm or chest, which can cause cyclical chest or shoulder pain.

Adenomyosis can also contribute indirectly by driving heavy menstrual bleeding and anemia, which may lead to shortness of breath, palpitations, and chest tightness that can feel like “chest pain.” If your chest symptoms track with your cycle or you also have heavy, painful periods, our team can help sort out whether adenomyosis, coexisting endometriosis, or another cause is most likely and what next steps make sense for you.
