Medications don’t cure endometriosis and typically don’t eliminate lesions. They can quiet hormonal signals that stimulate lesions and reduce inflammation, which often improves pain while you’re on treatment, but symptoms commonly return when medication is stopped.
Will a hysterectomy cure endometriosis?
A hysterectomy does not necessarily cure endometriosis, because the tissue grows outside the uterus. Removing the uterus alone doesn’t automatically remove endometriosis implants or the inflammation they can drive.
Do pregnancy or menopause cure endometriosis?
Pregnancy and menopause don’t reliably cure endometriosis, though they can temporarily change symptoms. Some patients feel better, but lesions can persist and symptoms can return, including significant pain flares after childbirth or menopause.
