You suspect you may have endometriosis or adenomyosis
Can endometriosis cause period-related migraines?
Yes—many people with endometriosis report migraines that cluster around their period. While endometriosis doesn’t have to be present in the head to influence headaches, it can contribute through cyclical inflammation and pain signaling that ramp up around bleeding, and through the way the nervous system can become more sensitized over time.
That said, period-related migraines can also happen without endometriosis, and headaches alone aren’t enough to confirm or rule it out. If your migraines reliably track with your cycle and you also have symptoms like severe cramps, pelvic pain, pain with sex, bowel/bladder symptoms, or fatigue, it’s worth looking at the full pattern together—because treating the underlying pelvic disease and optimizing pain management can change the whole “flare” picture. Our team can help you sort out whether your migraine timing fits a hormonally driven pattern, an endometriosis-related pain sensitization pattern, or both, and map out next steps based on your symptoms and goals.
