You suspect you may have endometriosis or adenomyosis

Can endometriosis cause urinary urgency or bladder pain?

Topic:Deep Disease
Affected areas:bladderpelvicabdominal

Yes—endometriosis can be associated with urinary urgency, frequency, and bladder pain. In some patients, endometriosis involves the bladder wall itself (often as a form of deep endometriosis), which can cause suprapubic pressure, pain with urination, or symptoms that flare cyclically around a period, even when routine urine tests and cultures are normal.

At the same time, urinary symptoms don’t automatically mean “it’s the bladder endometriosis.” Similar symptoms can come from conditions that commonly overlap with endometriosis—like interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome, pelvic floor dysfunction, or other pelvic pain drivers—so the key is a whole-picture evaluation rather than assuming a single cause.

In our practice, we map urinary symptoms carefully (timing, triggers, response to prior treatments) and, when warranted, use targeted imaging such as expert-interpreted ultrasound and/or MRI to look specifically at the bladder and nearby structures. If you’re dealing with persistent urgency or bladder pain—especially with negative cultures or a cycle pattern—reach out to schedule a consultation so we can help clarify what’s driving your symptoms and what treatment options make sense for your goals.
