Can medication cure bladder endometriosis lesions, or is surgery needed?

Medications can often calm bladder endometriosis symptoms by suppressing hormonal stimulation and reducing inflammation, which may ease urgency, frequency, and pain. However, medicine generally does not “erase” deep lesions within the bladder wall, so symptoms can return when treatment is stopped.

Surgery becomes more important when symptoms persist despite medication, imaging suggests deeper invasion into the bladder muscle, or there are concerning issues like bleeding or urinary blockage. In our practice, we help you weigh your goals (symptom control, fertility planning, avoiding recurrence), your imaging and exam findings, and how you’ve responded to hormones to decide whether ongoing medical management, excision of bladder disease, or a combined approach makes the most sense—reach out to schedule a consultation if you’d like a tailored plan.
