What tests diagnose bladder endometriosis?

Topic:Deep Disease
Affected areas:bladderpelvicabdominal

A focused pelvic ultrasound (often transvaginal, sometimes transabdominal) with a partially filled bladder can help identify bladder wall thickening or endometriosis nodules, and MRI can further clarify how deep a lesion goes and support surgical planning. These imaging studies are most helpful when they’re performed and interpreted with endometriosis in mind, because bladder disease can be subtle and easy to miss.

We also use urine testing to check for other common causes of bladder symptoms, such as infection or blood in the urine. In selected cases—especially with hematuria or when imaging doesn’t fully explain symptoms—cystoscopy can be helpful to evaluate the inside of the bladder and guide next steps. If you’re concerned about bladder endometriosis, our team can review your symptoms and imaging and discuss the most appropriate pathway to a clear diagnosis.
