Do I need surgery before pelvic floor therapy?

Topic:Surgery
Affected areas:pelvicbowelbladder

Not necessarily. Pelvic floor therapy can be helpful whether or not you’ve had surgery, and many patients benefit from starting it early to calm muscle guarding, reduce pain amplification, and improve bowel, bladder, and pelvic comfort.

If endometriosis, adenomyosis, or scar-related restrictions are driving symptoms that won’t fully resolve with therapy alone, surgery and pelvic floor therapy often work best as a team. Therapy can make day-to-day symptoms more manageable before a procedure and help restore mobility, coordination, and comfort afterward. If you’re unsure about timing, our team can help you decide on a plan that fits your symptoms and goals—reach out to schedule a consultation.
