Does pelvic pain severity match endometriosis stage?

Topic:Diagnosis
Affected areas:pelvicabdominalback

Not reliably. We often see people with minimal visible endometriosis who have severe pelvic pain, and others with more extensive disease who report less pain.

Pain is influenced by where lesions are located, how deeply they infiltrate, whether adhesions are pulling on organs, and how much inflammation is present. Just as important, the pelvic floor and nervous system can become sensitized over time, which can amplify pain even when the overall “stage” is described as mild. If you’ve been told your endometriosis is mild but your symptoms are not, our team can help evaluate the full picture and build a plan that matches what you’re actually experiencing.
