Does pain severity correlate with infertility severity?

Topic:Fertility
Affected areas:pelvicabdominalsystemic

Not necessarily. Pain intensity doesn’t reliably predict how much endometriosis (or adenomyosis) may be affecting fertility, because symptoms depend on many factors beyond “how much” disease is present.

Some patients have minimal or intermittent pain but significant fertility-impacting disease, such as adhesions, tubal involvement, or ovarian endometriomas, while others have severe pain driven by inflammation or nerve sensitivity without major anatomic barriers to conception. If you’re trying to conceive and your symptoms don’t seem to “match” your fertility experience, our team can help evaluate both pain and fertility factors and discuss options, including whether excision surgery could play a role.
