You suspect you may have endometriosis or adenomyosis

Should I see an endometriosis specialist or a urologist?

Often, the best next step is a coordinated approach, because bladder symptoms can come from urinary conditions, pelvic conditions like endometriosis/adenomyosis, or a combination. If your bladder pain, urgency, or burning tends to flare cyclically (for example around your period), or it comes with pelvic pain and painful periods, we typically recommend starting with an endometriosis-focused evaluation.

If you’re seeing blood in the urine, dealing with recurrent UTIs, kidney stone concerns, or there’s a question of bladder wall involvement, a urology workup is often important in parallel. Our team frequently collaborates with urology to make sure both the pelvic and urinary sides are fully evaluated and treated in the right sequence; you can reach out to schedule a consultation so we can help map out the most efficient plan for your specific symptoms.

Unsure Who to See First?

If your bladder pain cycles with your period or comes with pelvic pain, start with an endometriosis specialist. Our experts coordinate care to address all possible causes and guide your diagnosis.
