What should I do if my endometriosis treatment failed?

Topic:Treatment Challenges
Affected areas:pelvicbowelbladder

If your endometriosis treatment “failed,” the first step is figuring out what failed: symptom control, disease treatment, or both. Many patients have been given therapies that can blunt pain or bleeding without addressing the lesions and scarring themselves, so symptoms can persist even when you’ve “tried everything.” Another common reason is that endometriosis isn’t the only driver—adenomyosis, fibroids, polyps, cysts, or pelvic venous issues can overlap and keep symptoms going even after medication or even after surgery.

We typically start by doing a structured review of your full history and records—especially prior operative reports, pathology, imaging, and a clear timeline of what you’ve tried and how you responded. That record-based approach helps us identify whether incomplete excision, deeply infiltrating disease (bowel/bladder/ureter involvement), adhesions, or pain pathway changes like central sensitization may be contributing, and what a realistic next-step plan looks like. If you’re feeling stuck after prior treatment, you’re exactly the kind of patient our process is designed for—reach out so we can review your records and tell you directly whether we think we can help and what information we’d need next.
