You suspect you may have endometriosis or adenomyosis
Bladder endometriosis vs UTI vs IC: how can I tell the difference?
Bladder endometriosis can look like a UTI—urgency, frequency, burning, and sometimes blood in the urine—but a common clue is timing. Symptoms often flare in a cyclical pattern (frequently worsening before or during your period) and urine cultures may repeatedly come back negative despite “UTI-like” symptoms.
A true UTI is more likely when testing shows infection and symptoms improve with appropriate antibiotics. IC/BPS can cause ongoing bladder pressure or pain with urgency and frequency even when there’s no infection, but it’s typically not tightly linked to your menstrual cycle in the same predictable way. If your symptoms keep returning, don’t match your culture results, or persist after treatment, our team can help sort out whether bladder endometriosis, IC/BPS, recurrent infection, or more than one issue is contributing and discuss next steps for evaluation.
