You suspect you may have endometriosis or adenomyosis
Can endometriosis cause cramps after orgasm?
Yes. Endometriosis can cause cramping or pelvic pain after orgasm because orgasm triggers rhythmic pelvic floor and uterine contractions, and endometriosis-affected tissues can be inflamed, irritated, and more pain-sensitive. If there are adhesions or deep lesions, those normal contractions can also “pull” on organs or sensitive areas and feel like intense cramps.
Post-orgasm cramping is also common when endometriosis involves areas near the uterus, cervix, vagina, bladder, or bowel—or when pelvic floor muscles have become tight and reactive from chronic pain. Some patients notice it’s worse with deep penetration, certain positions, or when they already have a flare.
If this is happening to you, our team can help map out the pattern of your symptoms and look for endometriosis, adenomyosis, pelvic floor dysfunction, and other overlapping causes that can mimic or amplify the same pain. When endometriosis is a driver, minimally invasive excision surgery to remove disease and restore normal anatomy can be an important path toward lasting relief—explore our site to learn what evaluation and treatment can look like, or reach out to schedule a consultation.
