Can pelvic floor therapy help if ultrasound or MRI is normal?
Yes. It’s very common for pelvic imaging to look normal even when pelvic pain is real and treatable. Ultrasound and MRI are helpful for some conditions, but they don’t show many of the functional pain drivers we see every day.
Pelvic floor physical therapy can help when pain is coming from muscle overactivity (hypertonicity), myofascial trigger points, or protective guarding patterns that develop after months or years of symptoms. It can also address nervous system sensitization, where the body stays in a “high alert” pain state even without a visible structural finding. If your symptoms persist despite normal imaging, our team can help you sort out what’s most likely contributing and whether pelvic floor therapy should be part of your plan.
