How is thoracic endometriosis treated?

Topic:Deep Disease
Affected areas:chestpelvicsystemic

Thoracic endometriosis is usually treated with hormonal suppression, surgery, or a combination—depending on your symptoms, imaging findings, and whether there are recurrent events like catamenial pneumothorax (lung collapse around your period) or bleeding in the chest. Hormonal therapy aims to reduce cyclic activity of the disease, while surgery focuses on identifying and removing endometriosis and repairing affected areas.

When surgery is needed, it often works best as a coordinated approach between a gynecologic excision surgeon and a thoracic surgeon so both pelvic and chest disease are addressed thoughtfully. Our team can help evaluate your history, timing of symptoms with your cycle, and prior treatments to build a plan that prioritizes both symptom control and long-term risk reduction—reach out to schedule a consultation if you’d like us to review your case.
