You suspect you may have endometriosis or adenomyosis

Is endo belly real, or is it just IBS?

Topic:Symptoms
Affected areas:abdominalbowelpelvic

“Endo belly” is real, and it’s a common experience for people with endometriosis or adenomyosis—even if they also have IBS. Endometriosis-related bloating often comes in waves and may track with your cycle, pelvic pain, deeper cramping, or a feeling of pelvic pressure, rather than only with specific foods.

IBS is usually defined by a pattern of bowel habit changes (diarrhea, constipation, or both) along with abdominal discomfort, but the two conditions can overlap and amplify each other. Because symptoms can look similar from the outside, we focus on the full picture—timing, triggers, associated pelvic symptoms, and exam/imaging history—to sort out what’s most likely driving your bloating. If you’re dealing with recurrent abdominal distension that’s affecting your quality of life, our team can help you clarify the cause and discuss next steps for lasting relief.
