Are low-FODMAP or low-histamine diets helpful for endometriosis?

Low-FODMAP and low-histamine approaches can be useful for a subset of patients, especially when endometriosis symptoms overlap with IBS-type bloating, cramping, diarrhea/constipation, or when there’s a strong pattern suggesting histamine sensitivity. They’re not a universal “endometriosis diet,” and they don’t address endometriosis lesions themselves, but they can reduce gut-driven symptom noise for some people.

Because both diets are restrictive, we generally view them as short-term, targeted trials with a clear plan for stepwise reintroduction to protect nutrition and long-term gut resilience. If you’re considering either approach, our team can help you decide whether your symptoms fit the pattern and how to use diet strategically without getting stuck in unnecessary restriction.
