Which supplements should I stop before surgery?

Topic:Surgery
Affected areas:systemicpelvic

Many supplements can affect bleeding, anesthesia, or how your body responds to surgery, so we usually have patients pause certain products ahead of time. Common examples that may increase bleeding risk include high‑dose omega‑3 fish oil, turmeric/curcumin, ginkgo, garlic supplements, and vitamin E.

Timing and safety depend on the exact product, dose, and your medical history, so we’ll review everything you take during your pre‑op planning—including vitamins, “natural” products, teas, tinctures, powders, and any combination formulas. Please bring a complete list (or the bottles) so our team can give you clear, personalized stop and restart instructions based on your procedure and medications.
