Can imaging tests diagnose endometriosis or adenomyosis?

Yes—imaging can be helpful, especially when it shows findings like adenomyosis in the uterine muscle, ovarian endometriomas, or deep infiltrating endometriosis. MRI and high-resolution transvaginal ultrasound are the most commonly used tools, and when they’re positive, they can add clarity and help us plan treatment and surgical strategy.
At the same time, a normal scan doesn’t rule out endometriosis or adenomyosis. Smaller lesions and superficial endometriosis can be missed, so we interpret imaging alongside your symptoms and a thorough evaluation. If you’re getting conflicting messages from tests versus how you feel, our team can help you make sense of the full picture and discuss next steps.
